Coating durability is the performance of color steel coil in use. It is usually measured by the length of aesthetic life and the first overhaul life.
1. Aesthetic Life
The time interval from the date of manufacture of the color-coated roller to the date when the surface coating shows a certain degree of discoloration and powdering, affecting the original aesthetic effect of the coating.
2. Ultimate Life
The steel plate is rusted and perforated and cannot be used.
3. Coating thickness
*Porous structure coating
From a microscopic point of view, the coating is a porous structure. Water and corrosive media (chloride ions, etc.) in the air will penetrate through the weak parts of the coating, causing sub-film corrosion, and then the coating will bubble and peel off.
*Coating thickness selection
According to the experimental results: the front coating ≥ 20μm can effectively prevent the invasion of corrosive media. Due to the different anti-corrosion mechanisms of primer and topcoat, primer (≥ 5) μm) and topcoat (≥ 15) μm are required respectively. Only in this way can the corrosion resistance of different parts of the color-coated steel plate be balanced.
4. Coating gloss
* Light pollution
High-gloss surfaces are glaring, and the high reflectivity of daytime sunlight can cause light pollution.
* Potential safety hazards
The high gloss surface has a low friction coefficient and is easy to slip. Roof construction can easily bring safety hazards.
*Visual fatigue
The aging of the color-coated roller when used outdoors first shows that it has lost its gloss. If maintenance is required, it is easy to distinguish between new and old steel plates, resulting in poor appearance; if the back paint has a high gloss, it is easy to produce a halo when there is light indoors, causing visual fatigue for personnel.
5. Coating color
*Light color system
From the perspective of application technology, the pigments for light-colored paints have a wide range of choices. You can choose inorganic paints with excellent durability (such as titanium dioxide), which have strong heat reflection ability (the reflection coefficient is twice that of dark paint). The temperature of the paint itself is relatively low in summer, which is conducive to extending the service life of the paint. In addition, even if the paint changes color or powders, the contrast between the light-colored film and the original color after the change is very small, and it has little impact on the appearance.
*Dark colors
Dark colors (especially bright colors) are mostly organic colors and are easily affected by ultraviolet rays.
